Merlin Entertainments and CCEP VIP Experience Competition

Terms and Conditions:

  1. These Terms and Conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. Entry and claim instructions are deemed to form part of the Terms and Conditions and by participating, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Please retain a copy for your information.
  2. Promoter: Merlin Entertainments plc, 3 Market Close, Poole, Dorset BH15 1NQ.
  3. Eligibility: Entry is open to residents of the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), and ROI aged 18+ except employees (and their immediate families) of Merlin Entertainments (“the Promotor”), Coca-Cola and any other companies associated with the draw.
  4. Promotion starts at 00:01 on 1.07.24 and closes 23:59 on 06.09.2024. 11 winners will in 11 prize experiences. Each attraction VIP prize experience includes day entry tickets:
  • Alton Towers Resort: A VIP tour and experience in Sharkbait Reef for 6 people,
  • Chessington World of Adventures Resort: Giraffe Safari Experience for 4 people,
  • LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Birmingham: VIP Master Model Builder Session for a family of 4,
  • LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort: Behind the Bricks Tour,
  • SEA LIFE Birmingham: Ocean Feed Experience for 2 people,
  • The Blackpool Tower: The Blackpool Tower Circus Royal Box Experience for 6 people,
  • SEA LIFE Blackpool: Snorkelling with Sharks Experience for 2 people,
  • SEA LIFE Brighton: Glass Bottom Boat Experience for 6 people,
  • SEA LIFE London: VIP Behind the Scenes Tour for 6 people,
  • THORPE PARK: The SWARM Coaster Climb for 4 people,
  • Warwick Castle: VIP BTS Tour of Legend of the Trebuchet & Private History Tour for 4 people.
  1. No purchase necessary but used plastic bottle is required to be recycled along with proof of entry in the form of printed ticket receipt once recycled at participating Merlin Attraction. Internet access required.
  2. How to enter: To participate, entrants must recycle a bottle at a Reverse Vending Machine in a participating Merlin Attraction and wait for the printed ticket receipt with further instructions to enter. Entrants are required to scan the QR code or enter the link from the printed ticket. To enter the prize draw, entrants will be required to submit their name, age, mobile number and email address on the promotional website listed on their printed ticket receipt.   3. For the avoidance of doubt, only one entry per plastic bottle will be accepted.
  4. Max one prize per person.
  5. Winner Selection and notification: The winners will be drawn via a verifiable computerised system producing random results from valid entries submitted within 7 working days of the draw closing date and winners will be notified within 14 days of each draw via the email address given when entering. It is the responsibility of entrants to check junk/SPAM to ensure they are in receipt of any communications. The Promoter is not responsible for an entrant making a late claim on their prize, if this email is missed or not read/responded to for any reason.
  6. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact each winner. If a winner does not confirm acceptance by responding to notification emails within 14 days of first notification, is ineligible or are unable to comply with these Terms and Conditions, Merlin Entertainments reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant drawn at random using the same methodology as above. The process will repeat until an eligible winner is able to claim the prize.
  7. All VIP experience prizes are subject to availability and winners will be asked to supply three potential dates from the eligible date ranges provided by the resort.
  8. 11 VIP experience prizes in total. One prize per participating Merlin Attraction. Unless otherwise stated, prizes must be claimed by the 31st December 2024. Each specific attraction prize will be won by a participant who recycled a bottle within that Merlin Attraction and entered via the QR code or website printed on their printed ticket receipt. For the avoidance of doubt, terms and conditions for each VIP experience prize are listed below:

Alton Towers Resort:

Tickets to Alton Towers Resort for a maximum of 6 people, including a VIP Tour and experience in Sharkbait Reef. Sharkbait Reef – ‘Very Important Pirate Tour’ is subject to availability and must be pre-booked in advance at least 14 days prior to visit. Participants must be at least 3 years of age and guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Please note, if the winner has a seafood allergy of any kind they will be unable to participate and a suitable alternative prize will be substituted.

Chessington World of Adventures Resort:

Tickets to Chessington World of Adventures Resort for a maximum of 4 people, including a VIP Giraffe Safari for up to 4 guests. Minimum age for Giraffe Safari is 5 years old, guests between 5-12 years old must be accompanied by an adult over 16 years old. VIP Giraffe Safari is subject to availability, upon a winner being chosen, they will be asked to supply 3 dates of their choice to Chessington World of Adventures Resort in which to attend the Giraffe Safari. Not valid in conjunction with any other offer. Prize is valid for redemption at Chessington World of Adventures until 31st October 2024, exclusion dates apply, visit https://www.chessington.com/tickets-passes/vip-experiences/vip-animal-experiences/ for full details.

Experience may be shared with other guests. Tours may vary depending on animal availability or behaviour, and in adverse weather conditions may be altered or cancelled. Due to the requirement to climb aboard and alight the truck unaided, this experience may not be suitable for some non-ambulant guests. Expectant mothers are not permitted on any of our experiences. If you believe this may affect you, please contact our VIP team before booking to discuss your individual needs.

Excludes travel to and from Chessington World of Adventures Resort. The prize is non-transferable, non-negotiable, not for resale and there is no cash alternative. Chessington World of Adventures Resort reserved the right, in its absolute discretion, to reduce entry and to close and/or alter all or any part of the facilities including closure of rides and/or attractions for technical, operational, health and safety or other reasons including overcapacity. Standard Theme Park entry terms and conditions apply.

LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Birmingham:

Tickets to LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Birmingham for a maximum family of 4 people, including a VIP Master Model Builder Session. Subject to availability and must be booked in advance (at least 7 days before). Each session is 1 hour long and guests must arrive on time for their alocated time slot. This experience is not suitable for children under the age of 6. Adults must be accompanied by a child to enter LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre Birmingham, so are unable to attend this VIP Master Model Builder experience however we can accommodate for a session during one of our adult nights if you do not have a child in your party.

LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort:

Please note, Behind The Bricks - Miniland is strictly for guests aged 7 and over; guests outside this age will not be permitted to take part for the health & safety of themselves, staff, and other guests. Participants must be fully ambulant due to the use of stairs during the tour. Photography is permitted unless stated otherwise at specific sections of the tour however, filming is strictly prohibited. Cameras are permitted.. This is an after-hours experience. Theme park admission and car parking is not included. This experience is non-refundable.

SEA LIFE Birmingham:

Tickets to SEA LIFE Birmingham for a maximum of 2 people, including a VIP Ocean Feed Experience. Subject to availability and must be pre-booked in advance at least 7 days prior to visit. Participants must be at least 16 years of age and any guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Please note, if the winner has a seafood allergy of any kind or mobility issues then they will be unable to participate and a suitable alternative prize will be substituted. Due to restricted access, guests must be able to stand and manoeuvre around the display to access the VIP feed area. Enclosed, flat footwear must be worn at all times.

SEA LIFE Blackpool:

Tickets to SEA LIFE Blackpool for a maximum of 2 people, including a VIP Snorkelling with Sharks Experience. Absolutely no diving experience is required (but participants must be able to swim and be above 10 years of age). All the instruction needed will be given by the SEA LIFE Blackpool experienced Aquarists. Please note, if the winner is not competent to swim issues, a suitable alternative prize will be substituted.

SEA LIFE Brighton:

Tickets to SEA LIFE Brighton for a maximum of 6 people, including a VIP Glass Bottom Boat Experience. Boats run every 15 minutes and the experience lasts 10 minutes. The departure point for the boat is in the auditorium, found just after the rainforest area and up the staircase. 1 ticket covers up to 6 people (adults or children). The Glass Bottom Boat can carry up to 2 groups of up to 6 people per experience. If the winners group size is more than 6, the winner must purchase 2 tickets. Under 3s can be additional (do not require an additional ticket) but must remain seated on an adults lap at all times. Accessibility: The winner and their party will need to climb up stairs to get to the auditorium, those with limited mobility may not find it suitable. Please note, if the winner has mobility issues, a suitable alternative prize will be substituted.

SEA LIFE London:

Tickets to SEA LIFE London for a maximum of 6 people, including a VIP Behind the Scenes Tour. The Behind the Scenes entry ticket entitles entry to SEA LIFE London Aquarium and the Behind the Scenes tour, with entrance at a dedicated timeslot. Please note, the Behind the Scenes tour will commence 30 minutes after your entry to SEA LIFE London Aquarium. The winner can reschedule tickets for free if plans change. Children aged 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult, aged 18+. All children under 3 must have a valid ticket. We advise comfortable footwear to be worn. Please note, due to security reasons we are unable to accept suitcases or large items of hand luggage into this attraction. For the Carers Behind the scene's ticket, you will be asked to produce documentation to validate your carer ticket upon arrival - a full list of accepted documentation can be found on our website Help Centre. Please note, if the winner has mobility issues, a suitable alternative prize will be substituted.

THORPE PARK Resort:

  1. Refunds are not available in any circumstances and there is no cash alternative; this does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer. Tickets are non-transferable and cannot be replaced if lost.

  2. A valid Merlin or Thorpe Park Annual Pass must be presented at point of entry for any participant with an Annual Pass discounted experience. (This excludes Carers & Merlin Discovery Passes). Those not able to present a valid pass on arrival will be required to pay an upgrade fee. Cash cannot be accepted. 

  3. A valid Shark Hotel booking must be presented at point of entry for any participant with a hotel discounted experience. (This excludes third party hotels). Those not able to present a valid booking on arrival will be required to pay an upgrade fee. Cash cannot be accepted. 

  4. Body measurements, height, age, and medical restrictions apply to certain rides and attractions.

  5. The purchaser of a VIP Product ticket must be 18 years or older. 

  6. Visitors younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult aged 16 or over. 

  7. A valid VIP Product ticket must be shown validate any booked VIP Experiences. If the product does not include entry to the park, then this must also be purchased separately. 

  8. Thorpe Park will not use the purchaser’s details for marketing purposes unless the purchaser has opted in to receive such information at the time of purchasing the VIP Product. 

  9. Thorpe Park may contact the purchaser post-visit for feedback purposes. 

  10. Payment for the VIP Product will be taken at the time of booking. 

  11. Thorpe Park is entitled, in its absolute discretion, to change the price payable for VIP Products at any time and for any reason and may from time to time offer pricing or promotional offers at the Attraction, online, via telephone or through third party channels.  10.  Unless otherwise stated, VIP Products do not include early access to the park, or early ride time. 

  12. Thorpe Park reserves the right, in their absolute discretion, to refuse entry and to close and/or alter all or any part of the facilities, including closure of rides and attractions for technical, operational, health and safety or other reasons – including overcapacity. 

  13. Possession of a VIP Product does not guarantee immediate entry to Thorpe Park during peak times.

  14. Thorpe Park reserves the right to alter the inclusions of any experience, including but not limited to merchandise, food, and beverages. All subject to availability. 

  15. Thorpe Park reserves the right to postpone or reschedule any VIP Experience for any reason, including but not limited to poor weather conditions, ride availability and park capacity.

  16. Unless specified in the package details, the package does not include any other expenses incurred by the guest/s whilst at Thorpe Park, including but not limited to travel, food and beverage, retail and any other costs incurred.

  17. All packages are subject to availability.

  18. In the event the guest/s miss their package’s slot, then the entire package will be forfeited and cash or any other form of compensation will not be supplied in lieu of the package.

  19. VIP packages are not transferrable and do not hold any cash value.

  20. Additional Terms and Conditions apply to specific VIP Experiences, these are presented below and must also be read.

  21. On the occasion that we offer a product which is not for regular sale, specific terms and conditions will be issued by the person authorising the product. This includes, but is not limited to VIP Entry, Coaster Climbs, Behind the Scenes Tours and VIP Events.

  22. Thorpe Park and/ or Merlin Entertainments reserve the right to alter these terms and conditions at any time and for any reason.

  23. Thorpe Park and/ or Merlin Entertainments decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Additional Terms and Conditions: Coaster Climbs & Behind the Scenes Tours

  1. This is an after-hours product, and therefore does not require nor include entry to Thorpe Park. A Thorpe Park entry ticket may be purchased separately.

  2. Coaster Climbs may not be suitable for all due to the following physical restrictions, full restrictions are displayed in the checkout journey when purchasing your experience;  2.1 For our Coaster Climbs, unless otherwise stated, participants must be fully secured into a full-body harness. This may not be possible for some guests with a torso measurement more than 128cm or thigh measurement approaching 75cm.  2.2 Guests must wear appropriate footwear; we cannot allow heeled shoes or sandals.  2.3 Guests must be able to walk unaided, including up and down steep stairs.  2.4 Guests found to be intoxicated will not be allowed to participate in a VIP Experience.  2.5 Participants must be aged 12+. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18+.  3.Photography is permitted unless otherwise stated at specific areas of the experience. Full terms below.  3.1 Coaster Climbs: Photography is permitted unless stated otherwise at specific areas of the climb. Phone holders are provided and must be used at all times. Cameras, go-pros, and any other filming devices are not permitted. Videos can be taken once stationary at the top of the coasters however, to ensure maximum safety, videos and pictures cannot be taken whilst ascending and descending the coaster.  3.2 Behind the Scenes Tours: Photography is permitted unless stated otherwise at specific sections of the tour however, filming is strictly prohibited. Cameras are permitted.  3.3 Photography for VIP Events: Photography and Videography is permitted unless otherwise stated per specific experience.

  3. We reserve the right to postpone or reschedule any VIP Experience for any reason, including but not limited to poor weather conditions. 

  4. Terms and Conditions of our VIP experiences & packages apply. These can be found above and must also be read.

  5. Thorpe Park and/ or Merlin Entertainments reserve the right to alter these terms and conditions at any time and for any reason.

  6. Thorpe Park and/ or Merlin Entertainments decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

The Blackpool Tower:

Tickets to The Blackpool Tower for a maximum of 6 people, including The Blackpool Tower Circus Royal Box Experience. Subject to availability, booking must be made at least 7 days in advance. Due to restricted access, guests must be able to stand and manoeuvre on foot to access the Royal Box area. Please note, if the winner has mobility issues, a suitable alternative prize will be substituted.

Warwick Castle:

Tickets to Warwick Castle for a maximum of 4 people, including A VIP Behind the Scenes Tour of Legend of the Trebuchet, plus a Private History Tour. Subject to availability and must be pre-booked in advance at least 7 days prior to visit. Participants must be at least 16 years of age and any guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.Please note, if the winner has mobility issues then a suitable alternative prize will be substituted.

  1. All Prizes can only be used as stipulated, are not transferable to another individual and cannot be exchanged for cash or used in any other way. Exact prize is as detailed above and none of the prizes include meals or travel. Any other non-specified expenses are the responsibility of the winner and guests. Winner cannot select prize of choice. Prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or ticket. Prize must be taken as a complete package. Any breach of these terms will result in disqualification and the promoter reserves the right to cancel the prize.
  2. One guest per prize must be 18 years or over. Winner is responsible for adhering to all applicable attraction entry terms and conditions including size, height, weight and age restrictions and medical warnings that apply to certain rides and attractions.   3. Winners will be contacted by the attraction via the email address given for their entry within 14 days of confirming acceptance of their prize to organise trip details.
  4. No cash or other alternative prize will be provided in whole or in part, except that in the event of circumstances outside of its control the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a similar prize of equal or greater value.
  5. Use of a false name or address will result in disqualification.
  6. Entries that are incomplete, illegible, invalid, misdirected or late will not be valid and deemed void. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery. The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries delayed, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise.
  7. All entries must be made directly by the person entering the prize draw. Entrants who make an entry on someone else’s behalf will be disqualified, at the Promoter’s discretion.
  8. Entries (bulk or otherwise) from agents, third parties, organised groups or any entries automatically generated by computer will not be accepted. No incomplete or corrupted entries will be accepted. Entries will only be accepted if they comply with these Terms and Conditions.
  9. The Promoter has no control over communications networks and is not liable for any problems associated with them due to traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. The Promoter will not be held liable to any individual for any fraud committed by any third party nor for any event beyond its control, including, but not limited to user error, any network, computer, and hardware or software failures of any kind which may restrict, delay or prevent a participant’s entry to the promotion.
  10. The winners and their companions are responsible for any expenses which may be incurred including but not limited to; travel, sustenance, souvenirs and gifts.
  11. The attraction entry tickets can only be used by the prize winner and as stipulated. The tickets are non-transferable and not for resale. Any purported or attempted transfer or sale of or other misuse of the tickets will render them automatically void.
  12. If for any reason any aspect of this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter may in its sole discretion modify or suspend the promotion or invalidate any affected entries/claims. If an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these Terms and Conditions, the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation.
  13. The winner and their companions agree to the use of their name, photograph and disclosure of county of residence and will cooperate with any other reasonable requests by Merlin Entertainments relating to any post-winning publicity.
  14. Merlin Entertainments’ decision is final in relation to promotional matters and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. In the event of a discrepancy between these standard Terms and Conditions and the details in the promotional material (or any other Terms and Conditions provided/referred to at the time of entry), the details of the promotional material (and any other Terms and Conditions provided/referred to at the time of entry) shall prevail.
  16. The Promoter reserves the right to verify all entries including but not limited to asking for address and proof of competition entry, ID and to refuse to award a prize or withdraw prize entitlement and/or refuse further participation in the promotion and disqualify the participant where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these Terms and Conditions, the spirit of the promotion or any instructions forming part of this promotions entry requirements or otherwise where a participant has gained unfair advantage in participating in the promotion or won using fraudulent means.
  17. A list of winners will be available on request, by email to [email protected] unless otherwise stated, after the close of the draw and for a period of 3 months. Only the surname and county of the winners will be disclosed. Entrants can object to disclosure, or request that disclosure be limited in scope by contacting [email protected]. We may nevertheless disclose the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to do so. We reserve the right to refuse any or all such requests.
  18. The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this promotion or accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (including personal injury, death and fraud) in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law.
  19. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.
  20. The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the promotion and for no other purpose unless we have your consent. By participating in the Promotion, you agree to the use of your personal data as described here.
  21. These terms and conditions and any related disputes are subject to interpretation under the laws of England and Wales, and to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales unless your residential address is in Scotland, when Scottish law applies or in the Republic of Ireland, when Irish law applies.
